4th year externship position available at the Center for Hearing and Balance Disorders at Washington University. We are located at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. The Center is a busy private practice that provides services to a predominantly adult population to include hearing and balance diagnostics, bone anchored hearing devices, hearing aids, and cochlear implant programming and aural rehabilitation. This is a full time position where students can expect to gain a well-rounded experience by having the opportunity to work with all of the Center’s four audiologists.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Basic knowledge in balance testing and HA programming and troubleshooting, knowledgeable in performing and interpreting diagnostic hearing evaluations, and have experience with ear mold impressions.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
We expect the extern to become proficient in HA selection, programming/troubleshooting, counseling, and performing audiologic evaluations in a timely manner. We also expect the extern to become competent in CI programming and rehabilitation in addition to videonystagmography.
