Providence Speech and Hearing Center was founded in 1965 by Dr. Margaret Anne Inman who aspired to provide Audiology and Hearing Care and Speech-Language Pathology to ALL those in need -- regardless of their ability to pay. What began in a single room at a local hospital has grown to become one of the largest clinics of its kind in the country. Providence has expanded over the past two years to eight locations and has continued to help more than 500,000 families in Orange County. Today, the staff at Providence continue to honor the legacy of her life's work.
Providence's externship program aims to create well-rounded clinicians, with knowledge and proficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss for patients of all ages (birth through geriatric). Students will complete rotations in both the pediatric and adult centers (roughly 50% pediatrics, 50% adults), and will receive exposure to audiology specialties including vestibular testing, cochlear implants, and APD testing. Ability and a desire to work with pediatric patients is required. Our clinic is a fast-paced work environment and students will have the advantage of learning from a large staff of audiologists.
