The MetroHealth System Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Audiology is accepting applications for the Fourth Year Audiology Externship program for the 2018-2019 academic year. The MetroHealth System is one of the largest, most comprehensive health care providers in Northeast Ohio, serving the medical needs of the Greater Cleveland community since 1837. MetroHealth is an integrated health system with an acute care hospital housing a Level I Adult Trauma and Burn Center, a skilled nursing facility and more than 25 locations throughout Cuyahoga County. Over 3000 babies are born here each year. We are a county hospital and provide quality care to all of those in need. The full time externship will run for a minimum of 9 months to a maximum of 12 months and includes a stipend. Training includes comprehensive diagnostic evaluations including basic and special audiologic test protocols, electrophysiology tests, balance testing and full service amplification dispensing and rehabilitation services. The selected candidate will gain experience in diverse settings including inpatient, outpatient, and a busy ENT Clinic. These settings provide extensive experience with various populations including neonatal, geriatric, severely disabled children/adults and difficult to test patients with a wide range of medical histories. The extern will be supervised by Audiologists that have a minimum of three years of clinical experience, licensed by the State of Ohio, and Certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
