PENTA is a private ENT practice with 10 physicians, 6 audiologists and 3 satellite locations. We provide a wide range of audiological services and can offer a 4th year extern a diverse clinical experience. Our services include adult/pediatric hearing evaluations, OAE, ABR, electrocochleography, vestibular testing/treatment, adult/pediatric hearing aid evaluation/fitting/verification, Baha, cochlear implants, and ototoxic monitoring. We are also partnered with multiple research groups and participate in several research studies through these groups. In addition, the audiologists manage the department in terms of budgeting, marketing, personnel, etc which is unusual to find in an ENT setting.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
•Critical thinking skills •Ability to interact professionally with patients, physicians and coworkers •Ability to complete comprehensive audiogram on adults independently •Experience with hearing aid consultation and fitting/programming
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
•Proficiency in adult/pediatric hearing evaluations •Proficiency in hearing aid evaluation, fitting & verification •Skills in vestibular testing/treatment •Skills in electrophysiological testing •Critical thinking skills •Ability to interact professionally with patients, physicians and coworkers •Basic understanding of how to make a private practice function •Experience in cochlear implant evaluation and programming
