Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), a nationally recognized academic and clinical institution, invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for the College of Health Sciences. The Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs is responsible for assisting the Dean with the implementation of the strategic plan; coordinating academic programs and graduate studies within the College; assisting with the development and evaluation of both new and existing academic programs; leading faculty development efforts in the areas of research and education; and ensuring the quality of the academic programs offered meet the highest standards of excellence. As a senior administrator within the College, this individual will lead through accountability for, and strong stewardship of, the College’s human, financial and other resources. This person will also participate in, and promote teaching, professional and community service, research and scholarship within the college. This position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment and experience in leadership, administration, research scholarship and education. Candidates will have a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) and associated credentials in a field appropriate to providing academic leadership for the Department. In addition, acceptable candidates will have credentials that merit appointment as senior faculty; experience as a university academic administrator, at the level of program director or coordinator, department chairperson or above; successful track record of overseeing accreditation processes; established research, scholarship and teaching records; experience with university and college academic, student and business affairs; a good background in educational research, statistics and educational evaluation; and excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Candidates with experience in academic medical centers strongly preferred.
