Advanced Audiology, Inc. is a private practice currently owned by AudVantix. There are three audiologists that work at Advanced Audiology. Dr. Barbara Jenkins and Dr. Matthew Gebing are full-time doctors of audiology, and Dr. Tonya Genazzi is a part-time doctor of audiology. All audiologists are board certified, and Dr. Gebing and Dr. Genazzi have their CCC-A as well. All audiologists complete diagnostic testing, hearing aid fittings, hearing aid adjustments/troubleshooting, APD testing, and testing for veteran services. Our audiologists also do many lyric insertions on a weekly basis. We refer to many different ENT physicians, and have a large amount of physicians that refer to us. The student will also gain a great deal of experience with tinnitus assessment and management.
Required to have had 3 years of education at the doctorate level in order to be eligible for an externship position. Student must be able to perform diagnostic testing (Hearing evaluations, tympanometry, acoustic reflexes, etc.), and should have knowledge regarding APD testing. Student must also be up to date with hearing aid technology, as we do a large amount of work with hearing aids on a daily basis. Audiologists also work with lyric, so the student will become comfortable with lyric insertions as well. Student should be able to work full-time (40 hours per week), and must have reliable transportation to and from work.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:

Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Student will become confident with hearing aid fittings, adjustments, and troubleshooting with a variety of hearing aid manufacturers. Student will also be fully prepared to complete all diagnostic testing on their own, and be able to perform lyric insertions as well. He/she will also become confident with tinnitus assessment and management. The student will be comfortable communicating to other physicians about patients that are referred to Advanced Audiology, as well as about patients we refer to physicians. We also expect the student to be comfortable with APD testing, and learning how to communicate with a variety of patients.
