Hearing Evaluation Services is one of the largest free standing non-profit audiology practice in the country. We are currently seeking candidates for 3 fourth year extern/resident positions for the 2018-2019 cycle. Hearing Evaluation Services employs 12 Doctors of Audiology and services patients in four of our own dispensing offices, four ENT offices, and at a large neurological center. We offer a rigorous and diverse placement for fourth year candidates in our very busy practice. We provide complete audiometric evaluations for newborns, children, and adults, hearing aid fitting and dispensing, Industrial testing (seasonal), Auditory Processing Evaluations, a research-backed Tinnitus Program, and comprehensive vestibular evaluations (including VNG, posturography, and rotary chair testing).
An interest in diagnostic vestibular testing is preferred and adequate training and supervision will always be provided by one of our Doctors of Audiology. Successful residents will have already demonstrated the ability to translate their classroom learning into hands on patient care with the ability to build patient rapport. A strong work ethic and professional accountability are a must.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
- audiometric evaluations- instruction for hearing aid fitting- basic hearing aid troubleshooting- basic hearing aid care- some vestibular testing experience preferred
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
- audiometric evaluations (including masking)- comprehensive vestibular evaluations- hearing aid fittings and verification/conformation- hearing aid troubleshooting
