Private practice in Southern California serving pediatric and Adult population seeks an extern for diagnostic testing as well as hearing aid examinations and fittings.
Great opportunity to see a wide age range of patients from various cultures. There are two other audiologists are on staff at two clinic locations. Strong support staff is in each office. Knowledge of a 2nd language is helpful.
Completion of Academic Requirements for the Au.D. degree. Good people skills, patience and compassion.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Knowledge of audiometric test procedures: >Pure tone audiometry >Tympanometry >Pediatric techniques >Hearing aid evaluation and trouble shooting >Electroacoustic analysis and real ear measurements
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
I expect the student to learn/demonstrate good patient communication skills as well as counselling.

Yes Hearing aid manufacturers provide hearing aid fitting and new product information. We are surrounded by several universities and have an actice Speech and Hearing Association which provides continuing education.

Yes approximately 15 miles between the 2 offices

About Riverview Hearing, Speech and Language Center
Riverview is a long established practice in Southern CA. We are designated as a Communication Disorders Center by California Children's Services (CCS) which means that we see and treat children from birth to age 21. We also see adults for complete diagnostic testing and hearing aid selection and fitting. Two other audiologists are on staff.
