Full Time - Externship
The Martha E. Jones Pediatric Audiology Center at CID (Central Institute for the Deaf) is accepting applications for a 4th year Audiology Externship through September 4, 2018. The Pediatric Audiology Program is part of the CID School program which has a long history of providing educational and speech and hearing services to children with hearing loss. The audiology program provides a full range of re/habilitative audiologic services including behavioral hearing evaluations, device evaluations (hearing aids, cochlear implants, and FM/DM systems) and programming, parent counseling and educational outreach. Audiologists work closely with educators in the parent infant program and the school addressing the speech and language and hearing needs of the children. The extern will participate in all aspects of the audiology clinic including earmolds, selecting/verifying hearing aids, programming and verifying cochlear implants for children, fitting FM systems and participating in the planning of appropriate auditory training goals. Through observation and guided supervision, the extern will assist counseling families regarding hearing loss, device options and the cochlear implant mapping process.
