ENT Surgical Associates is a private clinical practice serving both the Pasadena and Glendale areas. Our team consists of 4 ENT Physicians, 3 Audiologists, and 1 Hearing Instrument Specialist. Currently our clinic is offering a 12-month full-time 4th Year AuD Externship position.
The student will be able to gain hands-on experience working in an evidence-based practice setting.
For those targeting a career in private practice or medical audiology, there will be opportunities to better understand the process of working with different health insurance plans, third party vendors, manufacturers, and learning more about administrative duties associated with practice management and growth.
Typical schedules will include (1) diagnostic testing for adults of a broad-based patient population—a portion of our patients come from Armenian, Hispanic, and Filipino backgrounds; (2) patient encounters, such as hearing aid evaluations, fittings, orientations, follow ups, real ear/conformity evaluations, tinnitus education and counseling, and basic hearing aid troubleshooting appointments; (3) regular clinic meetings; and (4) other arranged events such as conferences and workshops.
Supervision will be provided by audiologists with CCC-A professional credentials.
Opportunity for stipend may be considered
We are seeking strong applicants that can work well within a team and demonstrate a strong work ethic with a positive, flexible attitude. It is recommended that candidates be comfortable performing audiological testing and have some familiarity programming and making adjustments to hearing aids. Candidates should also have some background in writing reports and drafting chart notes.
Our goal for the externship position is to provide students with an opportunity to develop real world clinical experience to better prepare them to excel in the field and advance their professional skills.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Extern must be able to perform diagnostic evaluations on a culturally diverse population. Extern must have a fundamental understanding of patient care and a true desire to serve all of those that require our services.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
At the conclusion of the externship it is expected the extern will be able; Write concise and relevant notes and reports. Provide exceptional care. Understand the necessity of verification and bench mark measures. Be able to navigate referral sources and be know when and how to refer patient's requiring additional services beyond our scope of practice.
