Full Time - Externship
Hackensack Meridian Health Johnson Rehabilitation Institute’s Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology located in central New Jersey will be accepting applications for 4th year Audiology Intern positions beginning Spring/Summer of 2019. Applications will be accepted between September 15th and October 15th 2018.
The ideal candidate would become an integral part of the Audiology team comprised of professionals dedicated to providing superior patient care.

Strong compassion, creativity, courage and collaboration.
Provide audiological/vestibular assessment for all age groups
Counsel and provide recommendations for hearing aids
Fitting and programming of hearing aids
Maintain documentation and patient files
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Basic audiological testing with both a pediatric and adult population. Hearing aids including real ear verification Exposure to vestibular testing Cochlear implant exposure a plus but not required
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Become competent in routine audiological procedures as well as hearing aids and vestibular assessments

Does the externship site provide orientation to relevant clinical policies and procedures?
Does the externship site provide instructions about patient's rights and providing patient education?
Does the externship site provide orientation to quality assessment, quality assurance and quality improvement?
Number of Audiologists at the site:
0 FTE Masters Degree 7 FTE Au.D. 0 FTE Ph.D. 0 FTE Other Doctorate (ScD) 0 FTE professional support staff (technicians/audiometric assistants) 5 FTE Clerical Support Staff
Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern:
Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler
Pediatric evaluations: school-age
Adult hearing evaluations
Auditory processing evaluations
Evoked potential assessments
Intra-operative monitoring cases
Hearing aids dispensed
Hearing aid selection/fitting
Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized)
Cochlear implant evaluations
Cochlear implant rehabilitation
Other – Please Describe Stipend may be available but not guaranteed at time of offer.

Yes Team section meetings weekly along with annual professional onsite conference.
Travel to satellite centers required?
Consortium or collaborative arrangements with other sites?
How frequently will the externship site communicate with the university during the externship?
Communication or other support do expected or required from the university during the externship:
Ability to access university supervisor when needed as well as competency on status of students clinical experience.
