NYU FGP Audiology Associates are looking for a motivated 4th year extern to join our team for the 2019-2020 year. Our extern will provide a wide variety of diagnostic and treatment services to a diverse patient population in a busy and challenging setting. This position also includes a 1-day per week rotation at the NYU Cochlear Implant Center. All of our audiologists hold ASHA's CCC-A.
New York Hearing Aid Dispensing Trainee License is expected.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
- Case history - Behavioral audiologic evaluations for adult and pediatric patients - Acoustic immittance measures and otoacoustic emissions testing - Familiarity with hearing aids - Exposure to ABR and vestibular testing - Report writing - Strong communication skills
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
- Hearing evaluations from newborn to geriatric - Hearing aid services for pediatric and adult patients (including Baha and Lyric) - VNG - Rotary Chair - ABR (both under natural sleep and under sedation in the OR) - Electrocochleography - cVEMP and oVEMP - Tinnitus evaluation and therapy services - Central auditory processing evaluations
