The Saginaw VA Medical Center is very happy to announce a 4th year Audiology Externship opportunity.
Our Audiology program offers a wide range of services including comprehensive audiometric testing, hearing aid fittings, tinnitus management, and excellent tele-audiology services.
Electrophysiology and vestibular assessment are limited onsite. Experience is gained with skilled Audiologists with our community partners. Limited day travel will be required for this portion of the education.
Our clinic includes the main campus site and 9 Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) sites; one which has an audiology clinic.
Placement of the externship is at the Saginaw Main Campus which is staffed by 6 Audiologists. We also support the Cadillac CBOC, having 2 Audiologists, and the tele-audiology program to 7 sites throughout Northern and Mid-Michigan.
The 4th year externship is a full-time position with a 12-month commitment (May 2019 through May 2020). Stipend included, pending budget approval.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
-Diagnostic Audiology -Hearing Aid fitting and troubleshooting -Great attitude and willingness to adapt -Base knowledge in Vestibular testing -Base knowledge in Electrophysiology
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
-Gain experience in General Diagnostics, Hearing Aids, and overall hospital audiology. -TeleHealth hearing aid fitting and follow up -Build knowledge of Electrophysiology and Vestibular. -Work with wonderful Veteran Population
