We are an independent, locally-owned and operated audiology practice located in Athens, Georgia. Our licensed and certified audiologists are dedicated to providing professional hearing healthcare services with a personal touch to the residents of north Georgia. In addition to comprehensive diagnostic testing for hearing and balance disorders, our Doctors of Audiology (Au.D.) specialize in hearing aid services utilizing the latest innovations in hearing healthcare technology.
This is a twelve month, full time, paid (stipend) externship.
Extern candidate must be enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology program and have completed all clinical and educational requirements of their program.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
- Ability to learn and function in a wide variety of clinical settings. - Ability to perform the essential functions of the audiology profession and meet the standards of the curriculum. - Fluency in written and spoken English. - Ability to complete diagnostic testing on both adults and children with minimal supervisor involvement. - Ability to complete basic hearing aid evaluations, fittings, troubleshooting, and programming. - Ability to complete basic balance evaluations and testing including VNG, ABR, ECOG - Ability to interact with patients, supervisors, physicians, and support staff appropriately and professionally.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
- Adult and pediatric diagnostics - Vestibular/balance assessment and rehabilitation - Hearing aid selection, fitting, programming, and counseling - Newborn hearing screening - BAHA evaluations, fitting, and adjustments - Professional interactions with patients, physicians and staff members. - Students are expected to complete their externship as independent clinicians.
