We are seeking a 4th year Audiology student for a year long externship 2019-2020.
We provide a high paced, diverse opportunity to learn in 2 different clinical settings: an ENT clinic as well as a private practice hearing aid center. You gain experience in diagnostic work on both children and adults including basic comprehensive, Play, COR, OAE acoustic reflexes and tympanometry. You will also gain experience in working with all aspects of a hearing aid fitting, starting with the communication needs assessment and following the patient through the trial period checks, VER and release to maintenance appointments. You will have exposure to the decisions made at a clinic level for buying, marketing, and website management that will be valuable if private practice is an avenue you want to pursue.
The ideal candidate for this position is a student who enjoys a face paced clinic and who is interested in either an ENT clinic or a private practice setting.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
The ideal candidate for this position is comfortable with basic comprehensive audiometry including masking bilateral conductive hearing loss. We prefer if the student has hearing aid experience, particularly with Oticon and Widex products and is comfortable discussing use and care with patients. Experience conducting VER testing is also preferred.

Yes If VNG experience is desired we do have a relationship with the Balance lab out of St Joseph's Candler and can make arrangements for observation/experience however this experience will not be paid
