Chicago Hearing Society has an opening for a 4th year extern for the 2019/2020 academic year. Chicago Hearing Society has been serving the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing in the Chicagoland area for over one hundred years. You will gain experience serving a diverse population in one of the most dynamic and multi-cultural cities in the world.
The experiences you will gain during this externship include audiological evaluations, hearing aids, and tinnitus management.
Applicant must be a team player, have good communication skills, and a willingness to improve their clinical skills. We will offer a stipend as well as compensation for trainings and conferences.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
-Student must have proficiency in performing audiological evaluations -Student must be comfortable working with a diverse population -Student must have an eagerness to improve their hearing aid fitting skills
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
-Student will gain competency working with a diverse population of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. -Student will become proficient in insurance and billing procedures.
