Mercy Clinic Audiology has an externship opening for 2019-2020. We are a regional ENT and Audiology practice with a full range of services located in Springfield Missouri. Our services include diagnostic hearing evaluations, newborn hearing screens, hearing devices, ABR, VNG and cochlear implants.
Our practice is looking for an extern with strong diagnostic skills, excellent interpersonal communication and a desire to learn.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Externs should have strong skills in diagnostic hearing evaluations, excellent interpersonal skills and a foundation in choosing and fitting hearing devices.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Externs will have the opportunity to work with all age groups and will develop skills in the fitting of hearing devices, ABR, VNG, OAE and cochlear implants. Externs will be required to demonstrate critical thinking in the clinic environment and show that they are capable of working independently by the last few months of the externship.

Yes Our office has two satellite clinics. Externs will travel with an audiologist as needed. Transportation to these clinics is provided.

Clinical supervisors with be contacted regulary to discuss student concerns. Clear guidelines for assessment, deadlines and expectations of student performance are required.
