The Las Vegas VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System currently has an opening for two fourth year AuD students beginning May 2019.
The VASNHS is a leader in the provision of audiological and balance services to our nations’ veterans. Our recently opened (2012) medical center boasts an audiology suite with six sound rooms, fully equipped hearing aid treatment rooms, electrophysiology and vestibular rooms with evoked potentials, rotary chair, computerized dynamic posturography, and VNG. We have a staff of 10 full time audiologists and six health technicians. Additionally, students will be assigned to the Traumatic Brain Injury team and possibly other rotations. Multiple preceptors come from a variety of backgrounds and are interested not only in the education of the student, but in assisting the student in attaining career goals.

Completion of all requirements for fourth year experience, some VA experience preferred but not required.
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Basic diagnostic audiology and hearing aid knowledge. Vestibular evaluation experience is preferred but not required.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Strong diagnostic skills. Vestibular evaluation and interpretation Knowledge of VA procedures and policies

No Las Vegas VA is a clinical setting.
