With three generations of experience and a hands on approach, Dr. Herholtz will provide one lucky extern an education experience like no other. This is not what you have learned already, but rather a chance to learn from the best how to provide clinical services in a private practice.
If you see yourself as a dispensing audiologist who is interested in working in private practice or possibly having their own practice someday than this is the position for you. You are someone who is outgoing, able to work independently, driven to succeed and self disciplined. If you are not a people person, this may not be a good fit for you.
We are looking for a fourth year student who needs an externship to complete their degree.

Yes We typically attend AAA and our state conventions each year. Externs will be given this opportunity as well but costs may be split

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Audiological evaluations, cerumen management, impression taking, and hearing aid fitting and verification.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Cerumen management, Lyric provision, improve clinical skills and abilities. Basic business skills including time management and clinic administration.
Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern:
Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler
Pediatric evaluations: school-age
Adult hearing evaluations
Auditory processing evaluations
Evoked potential assessments
Intra-operative monitoring cases
Hearing aids dispensed
Hearing aid selection/fitting
Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized)
Cochlear implant evaluations
Cochlear implant rehabilitation
Consortium or collaborative arrangements with other sites?
How frequently will the externship site communicate with the university during the externship?
Communication or other support do expected or required from the university during the externship:
Whatever is necessary to facilitate a positive educational and developmental experience.
