Experience with diagnostic audiology.
Working knowledge of ABR & VNG.
Familiarity with advanced hearing aid technology.

Yes Our Audiology Team meets monthly and many of our meetings are with vendors for CEUs as well as Grand Rounds and current issues in Audiology. Additionally externs are allowed to participate in our twice monthly webinars.

Travel to satellite centers required?
Yes At Texas Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists there are 16 clinic locations as well as one retail hearing aid center. Externs are assigned to specific positions which may require travel between sites. In most cases, travel is a reimbursable expense.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Audiometric testing ability for most populations Working knowledge of ABR/VNG Working knowledge of hearing aid technology Ability to interact with patients, physicians & supervisors appropriately and professionally
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Proficiency in performance & interpretation of: Pure-tone audiometric testing on all ages Masking for all types of hearing losses ABR - Pediatric Threshold/Neuro VNG ECoG VEMP Ability to dispense hearing aids & counsel patients regarding all aspects of hearing aid technology Professional interactions with patients, physicians and staff members

No We do not offer research opportunities, but we do offer our 4th year externs the opportunity to observe CI implantation with Dr Joseph Chang, an internationally known neurotologist.
