We are searching for one 4th year AuD extern for the 2020-2021 cycle. The position lasts for one year and typically begins in early June.
The Montgomery Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic is housed on campus at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. We are a university clinic with 3 audiologists (2 FT, 1 PT). This extern will also spend one day a week at Carolina Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates, a private practice ENT clinic owned by USC's cochlear implant surgeon.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Adult comprehensive audiologic evaluations (including tympanometry, pure tone air/bone, speech audiometry), basic hearing aid fitting, troubleshooting, and programming
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Cochlear implant candidacy evaluations, cochlear implant mapping/consultation/troubleshooting; hearing aid fitting/programming/troubleshooting; Adult and pediatric comprehensive audiologic evaluations; VNG; ABR

Yes Our 4th year extern spends one day per week at a private practice ENT clinic (owned by our cochlear implant surgeon) to gain experience in electrophysiology and vestibular testing

The University of South Carolina Speech and Hearing Research Center is a part of the COMD department in the Arnold School of Public Health in Columbia, SC. USC provides hearing and speech services to the surrounding communities, including a busy cochlear implant program. Clinicians frequently provide supervision to Master's level Speech Pathology Students.
