The MetroHealth System Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Audiology is accepting applications for the Fourth Year Audiology Externship program for the 2020-2021 academic year. The MetroHealth System is one of the largest, most comprehensive health care providers in Northeast Ohio, serving the medical needs of the Greater Cleveland community since 1837. MetroHealth is an integrated health system with an acute care hospital housing a Level I Adult Trauma and Burn Center, Level III NICU, more than 25 locations throughout Cuyahoga County and a skilled nursing facility. Roughly 3000 babies are born here each year. We are a county hospital and provide quality care to all of those in need. The full time externship will run for a minimum of 11 months to a maximum of 12 months and includes a stipend. Training includes comprehensive diagnostic evaluations including basic and advanced audiologic test protocols for all populations, electrophysiology tests including OR and PICU sedation, balance testing (VNG, ECochG, C-VEMP, O-VEMP, vHIT) and full service amplification dispensing and verification. The selected candidate will gain experience in diverse settings including inpatient, outpatient, and a fast paced ENT Clinic. The extern will be supervised by Audiologists that have a minimum of three years of clinical experience, licensed by the State of Ohio, and Certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
