We are looking for an individual who will be a critical part of our research team studying auditory development and aging as well as developing new diagnostic methods for otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) assessment of sensory hearing loss. The person in this position will take the lead in data collection on various existing projects involving neonatal and adult human subjects, using custom-designed data collection and analysis programs. He/she will also coordinate data management and analysis and be a vital member of a productive research team headed by Dr. Carolina Abdala and including collaborator, Dr. Christopher Shera. The team will meet regularly to review and discuss results and their implications. This individual will have ample opportunity to contribute creatively to the research process and be involved in both the presentation and publication of findings. This is an exciting and stimulating opportunity for a research-minded audiologist interested in sensory hearing loss, otoacoustic emissions, the cochlea, auditory development and/or aging. A communicative person with good people skills, audiological skills, and leadership potential is sought. Training will be provided for all specific research techniques and analysis methods; however, background in research or data management would be helpful.
AuD or Ph.D. in Hearing Science/Communicative Disorder/Speech-Language Pathology. And several years of experience in the field preferred.

Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Otolaryngology Department includes a clinical and research division. The research includes a group of 8-10 laboratories and Principal Investigators (all NIH funded) studying hearing at the molecular, cochlear, and systems levels. They conduct both animal and human subjects research to better understand the function and dysfunction of the auditory system.
