The Saginaw VA Medical Center is very happy to announce a 4th year Audiology Externship opportunity.
Our Audiology program offers a wide range of services including comprehensive audiometric testing, hearing aid fittings, tinnitus management, excellent tele-audiology services (including diagnostic testing and hearing aid fittings/follow-ups), with a developing clinic of Videonystagmography (VNG), posturography, Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) testing, and Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR).
Our clinic includes the main campus site and 9 Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) sites; one which has an audiology clinic.
Placement of the externship is at the Saginaw Main Campus which is staffed by 6 Audiologists. We also support the Cadillac CBOC, with 2 Audiologists, and the tele-audiology program to 7 sites throughout Northern and mid-Michigan.
The 4th year externship is a full-time position with a 12-month commitment (May 2020 through May 2021). Stipend included, pending budget approval.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
-Diagnostic Audiology -Hearing Aid fitting and troubleshooting -Great attitude and willingness to adapt -Base knowledge in Vestibular testing -Base knowledge in Electrophysiology
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
-Gain experience in General Diagnostics, Hearing Aids, and overall hospital audiology. -TeleHealth hearing aid fitting and follow up -Build knowledge of Electrophysiology and Vestibular. -Work with wonderful Veteran Population
