4th Year Audiology Externship Position Announcement
The Department of Otolaryngology is accepting applications for a 4th Year Audiology Extern. The Extern will split their clinical time between the USF Auditory Rehabilitation & Clinical Trials Laboratory (ARCT Lab) and the USF Hearing & Balance Center. This externship offers a fast-paced medical center experience with both clinical and research audiology. There will be comprehensive hands-on experience in adult and pediatric (+7 years old) audiology. This includes, but is not limited to: experience with both diagnostic hearing and vestibular evaluations, traditional amplification and osseointergrated devices, and rehabilitation. Extern will have cross-training opportunities with other allied healthcare professionals including Otolaryngology Residents and Fellows. Available rotations include observations in the otolaryngology clinics, surgical observations, and temporal bone dissection laboratory experience. Extern will support multiple clinical research studies including studies evaluating new potential pharmaceutical treatments, telehealth or eAudiology, and evaluation of the newest hearing assistive technology available. Clinical research collaborators include local investigators Drs. Victoria Sanchez, Michelle Arnold, and Terry Chisolm. Externs are trained in the fundamental skills necessary to be a successful clinical audiologist or research audiologist. The externship is comprehensive in nature, and as such, combines rigorous clinical requirements with ample hands-on clinical training experience. Additional details provided below.

Multiple local, national, and international Researchers, 2 Clinical Research Audiologists, 1 Clinical Audiologist, 1 Neuro-otologist, 7 Otolaryngologists, >10 other healthcare providers; opportunity to collaborate with USF Communication Sciences & Disorders, USF-CSD Hearing Clinic, USF Physical Therapy, USF Clinical Research Center, Tampa General Hospital, Moffitt Cancer Center, etc.
Negotiable Salary with guaranteed $15,000.00 for the full year. Opportunity for tuition reimbursement is possible in addition to guaranteed salary. Compensation may increase depending on grant funding available.
