Owens Ear Center is a private practice located in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. We have 2 office locations: Plano and Fort Worth, Texas. The office currently consists of a neuro-otologist, a nurse practitioner, and audiologist.
Our goal for each 4th year audiology extern is to become a proficient and independent clinician under the supervision of a licensed audiologist with their CCCs.
Our practice is a fast-pace clinic which sees a lot of complex hearing cases. Experience/job duties include but are not limited to:
-Traveling is required between our offices at least once a week.
Must have completed at least 3 years of Au.D. program/qualify for 4 year externship.
Preferred: As an Otology/Audiology joint practice we encounter a high volume of complex hearing loss cases; many of which are SSD and Bilateral CHL; proficiency in masking preferred. Th practice is also wanting someone with knowledge and experience in completing hearing aid evaluations, dispensing hearing aids and troubleshooting.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
-Pure tone air/bone and speech audiometry-Tympanometry-Hearing aid knowledge-VNG skills/experience preferred but not required

By the end of the 4th year externship, the student will:-Be independent in comprehensive/diagnostic audiology-Be independent in cochlear implants and BAHAs: candidacy, selection, az-bio testing, initial stim., adjustments/follow-ups-Be independent in hearing aid candidacy, evaluation, selection, fitting, and troubleshooting
