About Medford, Oregon
Located in the scenic Rogue Valley of southern Oregon just 27 miles from the California border, Medford is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Its temperate year-round climate is perfect for exploration 365 days a year. Unlike other notoriously wet areas in the state, Medford is situated in a rain shadow and boasts plenty of sunshine, averaging only 18” of precipitation a year.
The Rogue River offers world-class rafting and fishing opportunities, and an abundance of forested trails provide ample hiking opportunities. If you’re a wine lover, the Rogue Valley is home to 4,860 acres of vineyards, where over 70 varieties of grapes are grown. Pair your wine with delicious locally-grown cheese from Rogue Creamery, whose Blue Cheese was crowned “the world’s best cheese” in 2019.
Whether you’re in the mood for upscale regional fare like salmon and Dungeness crab or craving something simpler like a good old-fashioned hamburger, you’ll find numerous options ranging from fine dining establishments to bars and breweries. There is always something fun happening, from street fairs and farmers markets to annual events like the Pear Blossom Festival, Comic Con, and the world-acclaimed Oregon Shakespeare Festival in nearby Ashland.
Looking for culture? Downtown Medford offers a vibrant mix of shopping, dining, and nightlife, whether you want to visit an art gallery, catch a play, or dance the night away to live music. With clean air, plentiful amenities, and a cost of living that ranks below the state average, Medford is an ideal place to call home.
