The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health are excited to announce an Audiology externship placement for the 2021-2022 academic year. This externship opportunity will offer experience working in a variety of areas of audiology including a full range of diagnostic services and treatment of hearing and balance for adult patients, including: hearing evaluations, electrophysiological assessments, vestibular assessments (including rotary chair), hearing aids, osseointegrated devices, and cochlear implants. Our team collaborates daily with our neurotologists and otolaryngology providers, allowing for evidence-based comprehensive treatment plans for our patients. The externship will also include a research component, providing the extern with experience collaborating with audiologists on clinically applicable research.
Qualifying applicants will be enrolled in an AuD program, highly-motivated, independent self-starters, who are interested in providing high-quality care to our adult patients. Previous clinical practicum experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred.

Extern will gain experience and refine clinical skills in all areas of audiological assessments and treatment that is provided at the site. More focus may be given on specific areas based on student interest and goals. By the end of the externship, the student will have gained confidence and independence in audiological skills.

Our audiologists take a multi-faceted approach to treatment of hearing & vestibular disorders, collaborating with otolaryngologists and other providers across SMPH and UW Health. We currently have 15 audiologists who work at multiple UW Health locations. Our audiologists perform a wide range of audiological assessments and services to both adult and pediatric populations. We are dedicated to providing evidence-based practices and work closely with collaborators in ENT to develop patient care plans.
