Pittsburgh Ear Associates is a busy Neurotology practice with 3 locations in the Pittsburgh area. The practice serves a diverse population of pediatric through geriatric patients specializing in otologic and skull based care. This unique opportunity will allow students to gain competencies in nearly all aspects of Audiology and provide an excellent resume builder.

Yes There are 3 offices, all within 20 miles of each other. Students will be assigned to a specific location(s) and additional travel may be required on an as needed basis.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
*Diagnostic testing *Hearing aid fitting and programming *Report writing *Exposure to vestibular testing *Exposure to cochlear implant mapping
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Independence in the following areas: *Diagnostic audiometry (pediatric through adult) *Hearing aid evaluations, fitting, and follow-up *Tinnitus evaluations and treatment *Vestibular evaluation and treatment *Cochlear implant evaluation, mapping, and troubleshooting *Exposure to implantable devices (BAHA, VSB, Maxum) *Intraoperative monitoring for ENT and neuro cases *Report writing *Daily clinical maintenance including scheduling/corresponding with patients.

Yes At times our clinic is involved in research studies and students are given the opportunity to participate.
