The Cheyenne VAMC is expecting to take two 12 month externs beginning May/June 2021. One extern will be primarily based out of the Cheyenne WY VA and the other will be primarily based out of the Loveland CO VA CBOC.

Yes During the course of the externship year, students would participate in multiple onsite/virtual manufacturer trainings, be allowed to attend 2 offsite manufacturer trainings, given the opportunity to attend JDVAC, and participate in monthly journal club within the audiology department. *Offsite training opportunities could be affected by COVID-19 travel restrictions

Travel to satellite centers required?
Yes Students will be primarily based out of the Cheyenne VAMC or Loveland CBOC, but required to travel to all 3 clinics (Cheyenne VAMC, Loveland CBOC, and Fort Collins CBOC) to ensure students obtain a well-rounded clinical experience.

Yes Students will be able to participate in the VISN 19 AMTAS hub-and-spoke model pilot during FY21. Students are also encouraged to propose clinic improvement projects.
Consortium or collaborative arrangements with other sites?
Yes Yes, we have an affiliation agreement with Advanced Otolaryngology in Fort Collins, CO to provide students with experience in cochlear implant evaluations/mappings, pediatrics, misophonia/hyperacusis evaluation/treatment and TRT.
How frequently will the externship site communicate with the university during the externship?

Additional Salary Information: This is the first year that our medical center has applied for paid externship positions. Selections will be made no later than November 2nd 2020 with the understanding that funding is not guaranteed until OAA releases official information; typically this occurs in mid-late January.
