Hillcrest Hearing and Balance is the audiology division of Southwest Ohio ENT Specialists in Dayton, OH. Our 5 office locations serve the hearing healthcare needs of the Miami Valley. Our practice provides an opportunity for a well rounded 4th year externship in an ENT setting. The extern will gain knowledge in all aspects of audiology including adult and pediatric diagnostics, adult amplification, adult cochlear implant and Baha services, and adult vestibular evaluations. We are a large, collaborative team comprised of 11 ENTs, 3 nurse practitioners, 14 audiologists, 2 Hearing Instrument specialists, 9 support staff.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
We are looking for externs who have knowledge and experience with audiometric testing, basic hearing aid skills, knowledge of hearing aid technology, and basic understanding of vestibular testing and cochlear implants/Baha. We expect the extern to be flexible, team oriented, and willing to work in a fast-paced ENT clinic.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
The extern will be proficient in performing a wide range of skills within the Audiology scope of practice as outlined above.

Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler
Pediatric evaluations: school-age
Adult hearing evaluations
Auditory processing evaluations
Evoked potential assessments
Intra-operative monitoring cases
Hearing aids dispensed
Hearing aid selection/fitting
Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized)
Cochlear implant evaluations
Cochlear implant rehabilitation
Consortium or collaborative arrangements with other sites?
