Visiting Assistant Professor

INDIANA UNIVERSITY The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at Indiana University is seeking candidates for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the area of audiology and/or hearing science. We are seeking applicants for teaching with expertise in any area within audiology or hearing science with research opportunities available if interested. Although any areas of audiology and hearing sciences will be considered, we are particularly interested in areas covering pediatrics, cochlear implants, vestibular assessment and treatment, electrophysiology, auditory processing, tinnitus, or other areas with a translational emphasis. Basic Qualifications This position is a full-time (10-month) position with expected start date of August 1, 2021. This one-year appointment is renewable for the 2022-23 academic year subject to programmatic need and availability of funding. We are hopeful that this position could convert to tenure-track in future years. A Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences or a related area is required at the time of hire and post-doctoral experience is desirable, but not required. Additional Qualifications Although teaching is the primary responsibility, opportunities for research and/or service are available. The department has recently moved into a new building with new research labs. Salary is competitive and commensurate with level of experience and qualifications. The Bloomington campus is home to approximately 42,000 students, including about 300 undergraduate majors and 120 graduate students in speech and hearing sciences. The Department has strong interdisciplinary collaborations with the Departments of Psychological and Brain Sciences, Kinesiology, and Linguistics, as well as the Programs in Cognitive Science and Neural Science on the Bloomington campus. At the end of 2020, the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences moved to a brand-new state-of-the art facility, the Regional Academic Health Center. The facility houses the Speech and Hearing Clinics and laboratories and is connected to a new Bloomington hospital. The close proximity to the hospital and other units on campus (nursing, social work, and medical sciences) is intended to foster collaborations among faculty, provide interprofessional education for students, and facilitate patient-oriented research.
