The incumbent will serve as a clinician when not serving to the Compensation and Pension Program in duties involving full range of audiological evaluations, needs for amplification, fitting and selection of hearing aids, auditory rehabilitation, and vestibular evaluations. The Staff Audiologist conducts a full range of audiological evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing loss, determines patients' need for amplification, predicts and measures the effectiveness of amplification, and determines need for and type of rehabilitation and counselling of veterans with hearing loss and their families. Other duties may include: Develops coherent treatment strategies. Performs clinical services independently. Conducts assessments and provides treatment interventions. Provides consultation to other health care professionals. Perform functions associated with contemporary audiology practice. Provides techniques in the assessment and treatment of auditory and balance disorders. Provides service to the Compensation and Pension Program conducting quality C & P examinations to the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA). The incumbent may occasionally be required to travel to Mayaguez Audiology Clinic to cover for staff audiologist. Also may be required to assist in case of an emergency as requested by the Medical Center Director. Work Schedule: Part-time, Monday - Friday, Day Shift; hours may vary. May be required to work rotating shifts nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call. (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on patient care needs).
