Practice Description Started in January 2000, Advanced Audiology Concepts (AAC) is aiming to be the premier Center for Hearing in Lake County, providing evidenced products and services that maximize hearing to support communication, overall health and improve the quality of lives. Founded by Dr. Jane Kukula, we pride ourselves in being a practice that works hard, has fun, and serves our clients with quality professional service in a compassionate and friendly environment.

Assessment and Identification Identify, test, diagnose, and manage disorders of human hearing, and tinnitus; interpret test results of behavioral and objective measures
Counsel patients about hearing and the possible need for treatment/management
Assess the candidacy of persons with hearing loss for hearing aids and provide fitting, programming, and audiologic rehabilitation to ensure the best possible outcomes
Screen other factors affecting communication function for the purposes of audiologic evaluation and/or initial identification of individuals with other communication disorders and or related disorders impacting hearing and hearing health.
Management and Treatment Perform otoscopic examination of pinna, ear canal, tympanic membrane, and to manage the removal of excessive cerumen, and make ear impressions
Recommend and provide hearing aid selection, fitting, and programming
Recommend and provide personal sound amplifying products
Recommend and provide hearing assistive technology systems (HATS)
Recommend and provide audiologic rehabilitation—including communication management, language development, auditory skill development and tinnitus management
Perform assessment and nonmedical management of tinnitus
Counsel and educate patients and families/caregivers on the psychosocial adjustments of hearing loss and tinnitus
Prevention and Education Collaborate with educators regarding communication management, educational implications of hearing loss, educational programming, classroom acoustics, and large-area amplification systems for children with hearing loss
Educate the public on the prevention of hearing loss, tinnitus, and falls
Consult about accessibility for persons with hearing loss in public and private buildings, programs, and services
Implement and/or coordinate community, school-based, or occupational hearing screening, conservation programs and hearing instrument maintenance
Participate in the development of professional and technical standards and procedures
Demonstrate the value of audiologic services by measuring functional outcomes, consumer satisfaction, and effectiveness of treatment
Supervise audiology aides who provide support functions to the practice of audiology
Marketing Network with others providing care and services to those with hearing loss and the elderly
Educating patients, professionals and the community at large regarding hearing and hearing loss and treatment
Represent Advanced Audiology Concepts in a professional manner
Hearing instrument evaluation, communication needs assessment, hearing instrument selection and fitting, conformity evaluation, and follow up services including trouble shooting hearing instrument malfunctions.

Started in January 2000 we initially provided consultative services to the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation. In 2006 we opened our audiology office in Mentor, Ohio.
