Yes Manufacturer reps present continuing education materials. If the student would like to attend a conference, the time off can be considered, but no financial assistance will be provided.

Does the externship site provide orientation to relevant clinical policies and procedures?
Does the externship site provide instructions about patient's rights and providing patient education?
Does the externship site provide orientation to quality assessment, quality assurance and quality improvement?
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Able to complete thorough adult hearing evaluations with minimal supervision including masking, tympanometry, and acoustic reflexes. Effective communication and interpersonal skills that can be used to discuss patient results and recommendations. Able to build rapport with patients' and their families.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Hearing evaluations for all ages, hearing aid evaluations for all ages, vestibular testing including VNG with air calorics, cVEMP testing, ECochG testing, posturography screening, cochlear implant evaluations, stimulations, and follow-up for all ages, BAHA evaluations, stimulations, and follow-up for all ages
Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern:
Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler
Pediatric evaluations: school-age
Adult hearing evaluations
Auditory processing evaluations
Evoked potential assessments
Intra-operative monitoring cases
Hearing aids dispensed
Hearing aid selection/fitting
Audiologic rehabilitation (group or individualized)
Cochlear implant evaluations
Cochlear implant rehabilitation
Consortium or collaborative arrangements with other sites?
How frequently will the externship site communicate with the university during the externship?

Support and resources as necessary for any issues that arise
