The Department of Otolaryngology/ Head & Neck Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons is seeking an Audiologist at the Assistant Professor level. This individual will be responsible for evaluating cochlear implant candidacy and programming patients with cochlear implants. Applicant should be familiar with programming and troubleshooting all three manufacturers and be able to provide follow up as needed. This position is part of a comprehensive cochlear implant team that includes otologists, a speech therapist, a deaf educator and community health workers. This individual will also be responsible for providing complete audiological evaluations to support the ENT practice as well as perform hearing aid evaluations.
Individuals will practice in the University hospital setting. Educational opportunities include teaching medical students and residents. Research opportunities are numerous in both the clinical and basic science areas.
Minimum Degree Required: Doctor of Audiology
All applicants MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered for the position.
Applicants must be licensed in the State of New York as an Audiologist and possess a Hearing Aid Dispensary license in New York.
Minimum education requirement is a Doctorate of Audiology.
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (active)
Ideal applicant will have the following skill set: administering and interpreting audiograms; familiarity with cochlear implant candidacy guidelines, ability to program all three cochlear implant systems, adult hearing aid fitting and programming as well as being able to evaluate for cochlear implant and hearing aid functional benefit (pre and post fitting). Applicant should also be familiar with RECD.
