Central California ENT is a well-established private practice located in Fresno, California. Our ear, nose, and throat specialists and hearing services center are unmatched in quality and commitment to patient care.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a 4th year audiology student to see patients of all ages in our busy office. The selected student will have the opportunity to hone diagnostic skills in ABR neurological & threshold studies, OAE, VNG, and VEMP. There will also be opportunities to dispense hearing aids, as well as take part in consultations, fittings, counseling, aural rehabilitation, and community outreach.
Our goal for each audiology extern is to gain real world experience working with patients of all ages. The experience we provide will enable the student to become a competent and highly coveted audiology professional.

Does the externship site provide orientation to relevant clinical policies and procedures?

Does the externship site provide orientation to quality assessment, quality assurance and quality improvement?
Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Completion and interpretation of basic diagnostic evaluation for adult and pediatric populations, administer VNG, ABR and OAE. Provide rehab management of dispensing Audiology services including counseling, selection and fitting of amplification systems.
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Broaden knowledge base of all areas diagnostic and dispensing, demonstrate appropriate patient management decision making related to treatment, counseling , rehab and communication with cross-team patient management (ENT, speech path, internal medicine etc....)
Clinical opportunities that will be given to the extern:
Pediatric evaluations: infant/toddler

Auditory processing evaluations
Evoked potential assessments
Intra-operative monitoring cases
Hearing aids dispensed
Hearing aid selection/fitting

Cochlear implant rehabilitation
Yes Our participation will be research as related to ENT study, drug trials, etc... audiology participation as a layer of that research trial

Regular follow up on academic requirements as well as student performance and compliance/ support and involvement with any performance issues clinical or professional.
