The School of Audiology & Speech Sciences at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (tenure track or tenure) with a preference for expertise in Pediatric Audiology.
The School of Audiology & Speech Sciences offers an intensive two-to-three-year- audiology or speech-language pathology graduate program consisting of coursework, research and supervised community-based clinical practice leading to the M.Sc. degree. It offers Ph.D. and postdoctoral education. Our facilities include state-of-the-art teaching labs, research labs, and study areas that create an ideal learning space. There are numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary research and teaching collaborations at the University. The campus, surrounded by forest and bordering the ocean, is also close to Vancouver downtown, which offers a variety of commercial, arts, and entertainment activities.
Reporting to the Director of the School of Audiology & Speech Sciences, the successful candidate will carry out research, supervision of student research, service, and course-based instruction in Audiology, primarily in the areas of Pediatric Audiology, Aural Rehabilitation, and/or Cochlear Implants.
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or equivalent, with preference given to those who have a professional qualification in Audiology.
If appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor, the successful candidate will have demonstrated a record of research productivity commensurate with experience and strong potential for developing a successful research program and effective teaching skills. They must be willing to participate in the affairs of the School and the University. If appointed at the rank of Associate Professor, the successful candidate will have demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and the ability to direct graduate students, evidence of sustained and productive scholarly activity, and must be willing to participate in the affairs of the School and the University. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate and interact with empathy, understanding and respect for diverse and divergent perspectives and behaviours.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
