This is a 12-month audiology externship beginning July 5th 2023 at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. Externs receive clinical experience and training within the audiology clinics at the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center (CDRC)/Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and the OHSU Otolaryngology Outpatient Clinic. Externs spend 50% of their clinical time in each clinic, rotating every two to three months. The audiology extern will participate as a long-term trainee in the Oregon Leadership in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program, attending weekly interdisciplinary seminars, participating in community outreach, leadership activities, family mentorship and clinical research. 

Externs will gain clinical experience in a wide variety of  audiologic services, including diagnostic evaluations of infants, children, adolescents and adults, hearing aid services, bone anchored hearing systems, cochlear implants, auditory brainstem response evaluations, interdisciplinary assessment for children with developmental disabilities and complex medical conditions, ototoxicity monitoring, and vestibular evaluations. 

We are seeking applicants who have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and who are strongly motivated to provide exceptional service and care to individuals and families.  Successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to work within a fast-paced setting and work closely with other clinicians.  All audiologists at OHSU maintain ASHA certification.
