About Orlando Veterans Affairs Healthcare System, Audiology Service
We are now accepting applications for 4th year audiology traineeships at the Orlando VA Healthcare System for Academic Year 2023-24. The start date will be dependent on the student’s university schedule, but will likely be in June, 2023. The traineeships are for 12 months (not to exceed 2080 hours). Historically, our traineeships have been funded by the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA). Although we anticipate funding by OAA for these positions, this is at the discretion of OAA, pending budget approval. The deadline for first consideration is September 5, 2022. We will continue to accept applications until September 26, 2022. However, applications submitted by September 5, 2022 will be given priority for consideration for interviews. Students must be a U.S. Citizen to apply. The Orlando VA Healthcare System is a Complexity Level 1A VA facility and offers audiological services at 6 sites of care in Central Florida. We are among the top 5 busiest audiology services in the nation. The Lake Nona Medical Center and the Lake Baldwin Outpatient Clinic are located in Orlando, Florida. We also have clinics in Daytona Beach, Viera, Tavares, and Deltona. We have a total of 32....8 audiologists and 10 health technicians on staff. In addition to diagnostic and hearing instrument services, we offer cerumen management, virtual tinnitus management classes, ABR testing, comprehensive vestibular evaluation (including rotary chair, VEMPS, vHIT, and in-clinic BPPV management), and virtual audiological visits. Central Florida offers a variety of activities for every lifestyle and budget. It is home to multiple theme parks, several professional athletic teams, and the University of Central Florida. Central Florida boasts easy access to two major airports, along with many opportunities to enjoy nature. Travel to the Atlantic beaches and the Kennedy Space Center is a breeze, while driving to the Gulf Coast beaches makes for an exciting day trip. Kayaking and hiking in local state parks are also popular activities. Our future 4th year students should look forward to flip-flop worthy temperatures and sunshine most of the year. All interested students should send their application packet to Dashielle.Febo@va.gov. Application packets should include the following: •Resume or CV (including GPA and total number of clinical hours thus far) •Two letters of recommendation •Cover letter/letter of interest describing what the student is looking for in a 4th year traineeship Additional Information: •Time spent training with us will count towards federal service •Students must be a U.S. Citizen to apply •Additional information is available on the Association of VA Audiologists (AVAA) Website at: Orlando VA Healthcare System Audiology | My AVAA For additional information or questions, send an e-mail to Dashielle.Febo@va.gov.
