Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin is offering 2 comprehensive fourth year placements for Doctor of Audiology (AuD) students. This AuD externship is:

• A one year placement with the adult population and consists of four rotations.
  • Rotation 1:  Diagnostic Audiology (25%)
  • Rotation 2:  Amplification and Aural Rehabilitation (25%)
  • Rotation 3:  Cochlear Implant (25%)
  • Rotation 4:  Cumulative Experience - you pick what you want more experience with (25%)
• Each rotations lasts approximately twelve weeks. However, if it is determined by the supervising audiologists that additional time is needed in a specific rotation, additional time will be scheduled accordingly. 
• This externship is 100% at Froedtert Hospital Main Campus (9200 W. Wisconsin Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53226)

Please note these rotations are subject to change based on individual student experience and education, as well as contract between Froedtert Hospital, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and the student's university. All audiologist's hold their CCC's & WI audiology license

• Tinnitus and Sound Sensitivity (Hyperacusis and Misophonia) Evaluation, Assessment and Management

• Occupational Hearing annual hearing conservation

Rotation 2:  Amplification and Aural Rehabilitation

• Hearing Aid Evaluations
• Hearing Aid Fittings
• Earmold Impression Taking & Earmold Modifications
• Hearing Aid Follow-up
• Hearing Aid Verification & Validation
• Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)
• Fitting of Sound Generators for Tinnitus and Sound Sensitivity (Hyperacusis and Misophonia) Management and Follow-up

Rotation 3:  Cochlear Implant

• Cochlear Implant and Osseointegrated/Implantable Device Candidacy Evaluation
• Diagnostic Audiology
• Hearing Aid Adjustment/Fitting
• Speech Recognition Testing
• CI & Implantable Device Counseling
• CI Inter-operative Testing
• CI & Implantable Device Programming (with Cochlear, Med El, and Advanced Bionics devices)
• Clinical Evoked Potentials
  • ECAP, Telemetry
• CI & Implantable Device Troubleshooting
• HA / CI Optimization for those using both
• Outcome Measures
• Aural Rehabilitation
• Report Writing
• Recommendations for Educational/Occupational Settings
  • Development of rehabilitation plans
