The pediatric audiology externship will take place at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida and may require travel to one or more of our 4 satellite locations. This is for the 2024-2025 school year. Currently, we are a team of 6 audiologists and 3 assistants. This externship will allow a student the opportunity to provide audiological care to children from birth to 18 years of age. The extern will have the opportunity to perform pediatric hearing evaluations (VRA, CPA, and conventional audiometry), ABR testing (sleep deprived and sedated), cortical auditory evoked potential testing, pediatric vestibular evaluations using VEMPs, auditory processing evaluations, pediatric hearing aid and Baha fittings, as well as cochlear implant evaluations and programming. We are multidisciplinary team and we work closely with ENTs, social workers, psychologists, and auditory verbal therapists. We also participate in a weekly Cleft and Craniofacial clinic. This externship is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to expand their skills and become a confident pediatric audiologist.
We are looking for an extern with strong diagnostic skills, excellent interpersonal skills, a desire to work in a pediatric setting, and a willingness to learn.
