How frequently will the externship site communicate with the university during the externship? | As Needed
|
Communication or other support do expected or required from the university during the externship: | A positive working relationship between the university program and NYU CIC relies on acceptance of each party's philosophies, procedures, and expectations. The university or academic institution's clinical education philosophy must be compatible with that of our center. We have strong collaborative relationships among staff and other clinical departments and expect a similar, collaborative approach between fellows, supervisors, and university clinical coordinators. For this reason, we welcome university staff to attend introductory meetings with the NYU Cochlear Implant Center staff. After an introductory meeting, a tour of the facilities and a brief observation session can be arranged.
Our center encourages clear and frequent communication with the university programs. We need to know that the university understands the center's scope of practice and that the experiences provided are in alignment with what they seek for their students. University programs should note that: •All services are provided keeping with ethical and legal regulations •Clinical experiences vary based on the supervisors' caseload during any given year •Affiliation agreements must be completed prior to the start of a student's experience and renewed with each new student •Duration of fellowship determined by the university will be accommodated by the center, but should not be less than 11 months •Supervisor will comply with all assessment of the student's clinical performance as required by the university and will hold frequent supervisory conferences with the intern |
