Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | -Take a complete case history -Strong report writing skills -Competently perform hearing evaluations to include tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, and OAEs -Strong knowledge of hearing aids (evaluations, fitting, and troubleshooting) -Working knowledge of vestibular testing (VNG)-Basic skill in evoked potential testing (ABR, ECochG, VEMP, etc.) -Basic knowledge of cochlear implant candidacy, testing, troubleshooting, and programming -Basic knowledge of tinnitus management and counseling |

Steps for the student/university to follow in the application process: | ACEN TIMELINE: Initial interview for strong candidates followed by secondary interview for final candidates. An affiliation agreement must be established between the institutions prior to starting.
