Bloomington-Normal Audiology has been a leading private practice in the heart of Central Illinois for over 30 years with locations in Bloomington and Pontiac. This is a fast-paced, growing private practice. Our highly patient-focused center is the perfect opportunity to gain skills in comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative services to patients of all ages. This placement will provide exposure to increase knowledge of all major hearing aid manufacturers (legacy and current technology), tinnitus evaluations and treatment, hearing conservation management and support, and community outreach.
Completion of health screenings as well as proof of Influenza and Covid-19 vaccinations must be submitted prior to start date.
Extern must possess professional liability insurance ($1,000,000 per incident and $3,000,000 aggregate)

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
- Interviewing a patient to understand their specific concerns and desired outcomes. - Adult and pediatric behavioral diagnostic testing. - Amplification and audiologic rehabilitation. - Good problem-solving, communication (written and oral), organizational, and interpersonal skills - Self-motivated - Ability to self-assess and collaborate on performance reviews in a positive manner
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
- Gain experience and independence managing patients - Gain experience counseling patients regarding diagnosis and management of hearing loss, tinnitus, and various interventions - Gain experience administering and managing hearing conservation programs for local industries - Gain experience interacting with peers and a wide variety of medical professionals - Gain experience public speaking and working with community groups/organizations to educate them on hearing health - Gain experience managing a private practice

Bloomington-Normal Audiology (BNA) serves patients with difficulties related to hearing loss and tinnitus. We are also dedicated to promoting hearing conservation and protection for those individuals exposed to loud environments. In addition to the diagnostic evaluations, we provide all non-medical aural rehabilitation services and products to individuals in need. This encompasses hearing aid dispensing including hearing aid and tinnitus sound treatment consultations, evaluations, fittings, and post-fitting counseling.
