This paid externship opportunity offers a wide range of audiological services with a focus on neurodiagnostic vestibular testing, gold-standard diagnostic hearing evaluations and hearing aids, cognitive screenings, and tinnitus assessments and sound therapy. We have two offices 15 miles apart that you will be working with, 2 days at one office and 3 days at the other. Both of our offices allow you to develop your skills and knowledge with the support of our audiologists and give you the opportunity to grow to be independent.
We have been taking students for over 20 years because we value the relationship between students and mentors. It is vital for our students to have hands-on experience in clinic, and they make us better clinicians by keeping us up to date with recent research/education from their respective university.

What will expect you to understand and be willing to learn more about during your clinical experience with Kos/Danchak Audiology are:
Gold-standard audiological evaluations
Including: otoscopy, tympanometry, distortion product otoacoustic emissions, standard air/bone pure-tone audiometry, word recognition, and speech-in-noise testing
Cognitive screening using Cognivue Thrive
Hearing aid consultations, demonstrations, selection, fitting and dispensing
Neurodiagnostic balance testing
Gans Sensory Organization Performance Test (Gans SOP)

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Otoscopy, tympanometry, distortion product otoacoustic emissions (OAEs), standard air/bone pure-tone audiometry, word recognition, and speech-in-noise testing
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
Full neurodiagnostic vestibular protocol, advance skillset with diagnostic hearing and tinnitus evaluations, determine the need for treatment with prescription hearing aids and/or tinnitus therapy, learn to read the cognitive screener report and know when to refer for additional testing, grow with our team, and whatever your professional goals include!
