Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | -Take a complete case history -Strong report writing skills -Competently perform hearing evaluations to include tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, and OAEs -Strong knowledge of hearing aids (evaluations, fitting, and troubleshooting) -Experience as test assist for pediatric appointments (VRA and CPA) and exposure as the primary tester -Working knowledge of vestibular testing (VNG)-Basic skill in evoked potential testing (ABR, ECochG, VEMP, etc.) -Basic knowledge of cochlear implant candidacy, testing, troubleshooting, and programming -Basic knowledge of tinnitus management and counseling -Completion of 3rd year of AuD program |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | -Proficient report writing skills -Mastery of basic hearing evaluations, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, and OAEs -Proficiency in all aspects of hearing aids (evaluations, fitting, and troubleshooting) -Proficiency in vestibular assessment -Proficiency in evoked potentials -Competence in cochlear implant evaluation, programming, counseling, and device follow-up -Basic skills in tinnitus management and counseling |
