Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | - Basic audiologic evaluation, including comprehensive audiometry, acoustic immittance, and otoacoustic emissions, including interpretation. - Good understanding of masking. - Knowledge of various brands of hearing aids. - Hearing aid programming inclusive of real ear measures. - Capable of producing well-written, thorough, but concise reports. - Cultural competence |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | Independently obtain, interpret, and report data for the following assessments: - Audiologic evaluations - Cochleo- and vestibulo-toxicity evaluations - Vestibular evaluations - Tinnitus/hyperacusis evaluations - Central auditory processing evaluations - Hearing aid evaluations - Cochlear implant candidacy evaluations
Independently complete hearing aid fittings and cochlear implant mapping in the allotted time including a well written report with appropriate coding.
Provide treatment for BPPV, tinnitus, CAPD, and other audiologic conditions.
Complete one clinically relevant project. |
