Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: | We will provide one-on-one training for the right candidate; however, we prefer applicants who have a basic understanding of pediatric and adult hearing testing procedures, test box/real ear measures and hearing aid programming. |
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: | The extern will be expected to learn and demonstrate the following skills during their externship: 1) Standard adult and pediatric test battery and explanations of results. This includes pure tone air and bone conduction testing, SRTs, WRS, QuickSIN, LDLs, tinnitus pitch and loudness matching, tympanometry, DPOAEs, automated (screening) ABRs, and acoustic reflexes. 2) Selection of and fitting of hearing aids and OIDs. This includes test box, real ear measures (REMs), and counseling on the care and use of the devices. 3) Troubleshooting of amplification devices. 3) Earmold impressions 4) Strong documentation abilities for chart notes and communications between professionals, patients, and family members |
