Summary:
The Audiologist provides comprehensive diagnostic audiological services to children from birth to adult.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides comprehensive diagnostic audiological services to children from birth to adult to include VRA, play audiometry, pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance testing, ABR/ASSR, OAE, central auditory processing evaluations and hearing aid evaluations/fittings at the hospital and the Rehabilitation Services Division satellite locations.
2. Provides services in an outpatient hospital setting and satellite locations with emphasis on clinical quality and efficiency of care process.
3. Provides services in an inpatient hospital setting including Hem/Onc., Infant Therapy, Inpatient Rehab., Trauma Screens, and Universal Newborn Hearing Screenings to Akron Children???s Hospital nurseries. Completes reporting forms to maintain compliance.
4. Selects and performs age-appropriate??audiometric procedures to assess hearing thresholds in order to determine peripheral hearing sensitivity.
5. Provides test results, recommendations and appropriate referrals to parents, referring physicians, and other professionals.
6. Performs and provides clinical management for obtaining, verifying, fitting, and dispensing hearing aids, Orders and dispenses FM systems. Responsible for obtaining hearing aid prior authorizations and all hearing aid repairs and services.
7. Performs and interprets specialized audiological tests (Universal Newborn Hearing Screenings, unsedated ABR???s, sedated ABR???s, ABR???s in OR, and Auditory Processing evaluations).
8. Obtains relevant case history. Demonstrates proficiency in navigating the EMR, documentation, report writing, and billing in the EMR.
9. Performs speech, language and hearing screenings
10. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for physical, psychological, social, educational and safety needs of the patients.
11. Maintains an average productivity measure of 60-65% on a quarterly basis according to the Rehabilitation Services Division standard.
12. Other duties as required
Technical Expertise 1. Experience in outpatient clinic setting is preferred. 2. Experience in VRA, play audiometry, ABR/ASSR, OAE, central auditory processing evaluations and hearing aid fittings is preferred. 3. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required. 4. Experience in healthcare is preferred. 5. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience 1. Education: Master???s degree in Audiology is required. Doctor of Audiology is preferred. 2. Certification: State of Ohio License in Audiology; Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from American Speech, Language & Hearing Association [ASHA] within 60 days of employment is required. 3. Years of relevant experience: 0 to 2 years is preferred. 4. Years of experience supervising: None.
